Lock Down on ECU Campus 11-16

OK, so my day started out like any other, for the most part. I got up early to work on a paper that I ended up deciding I'll just turn in late, then I find out that my degree isn't going to work out with a minor and a major in the same field of study...and then, right after I print out my transcripts to get my degree mess worked out, there's a mass text message sent out that there's a gunman on campus and that we're all on lock down.
Fast forward to 2 hours later, still locked in the English office. There's about 50 students/faculty/staff in the office with me, there is no food, and there is regulated group trips to the bathroom. We have NO NEWS about what's happening outside, and we have not been told that we can go, therefore the gunman is still on the loose. The only thing we hear is rumors we hear on Fb and what we've been able to see online, which are not reliable sources, and the info keeps changing every few mins.
I have read that: a white boy in a cowboy hat had a gun somewhere on 5th street and was seen walking near campus, he has 2 hostages in Rivers Building, he has a bus held hostage down town, and that he's carrying an AK-47 or some other kind of assault riffle. Almost ALL of those things have been confirmed, and confirmed as rumors, SO we have no idea what's really happening.
Hopefully more to come later! (And hopefully food to come soon!!)

SCAD update

I have finally submitted ALL of my stuff for my grad school application to SCAD!! For those of you who don't know, SCAD is Savannah College of Art and Design. It is one of the most prestigious art institutions in the world. I will hopefully be studying photography there starting in March 2012. I also hope to study some cinematography, because you all know how much I LOVE movies, and mixing photography and movies would be AWESOME!!! :D Also, je parle francais et il y a un campus de SCAD en France!!!
So now that I have submitted everything, I just have to wait for them to make their decision. JUST isn't the right word since I have no idea where I will live if I don't get in, and I will have applied to no where else. BUT most grad school will only let students start in the fall, so I'll still have until Feb to apply to other school. SCAD is just my top choice. Hopefully none of that will have to happen because my awesomeness will stupify the admissions board and they will have no choice but to accept me to their program and give me a full scholarship!! Here's to wishful thinking!!

For class: Response to Dulcitius by Hrotsvitha

As most of you know, I am not a religious person. One of the major reasons for this is that conventionalized religion was invented by man, and only spread because the leaders of certain countries couldn't govern their people properly so they adopted a religious belief that would make the people govern themselves.
With those thoughts in mind, I have read Dulcitius. This is a play to be performed in church. As such, it screams moral guidelines, and overly values and promotes purity and virginity. The “miracles” that this play encompasses present a false security; that God will watch out for those who are pure and obedient, which, as most people know, is not the case. As the saying goes “bad things happen to good people.” This play is an unrealistic attempt to get an illiterate audience to understand that they need to be good, and keep their daughters virgins. What this play also does is show that if you follow your physical desires you will be punished. Dulcitius tries to molest the girls, even though he doesn’t, he is still humiliated and beaten. This tells the illiterate audience that if you try to do something bad, you will not be able to do the deed and you will be punished after you fail; a very negative message against following your natural instincts. (*Disclaimer: I am NOT condoning molestation, simply making a point using the play’s events)
I do not believe that people should be force-fed morals. For the most part, you have them or you don’t. Very few people don’t know the difference between right and wrong; those who don’t or don’t care are psychopaths, and need psychiatric attention. If you live your life in a compassionate and generally respectful way, you are a good person and will be treated thusly. However, if you are a bad person and do not treat others well, or take advantage of others, you will not have a healthy or quality life, and that is punishment enough.

Officially the Worst Blogger EVER!!

That's it, I take the cake. Maybe it's because I'm busy, or maybe I just don't care that much, but I never can seem to remember that I need to update my blog...for all 3 of my avid followers.
Update:
* I still need to apply to SCAD to get my MFA in Photography
* (PLUS) My new life goal is to go to SCAD and become a famous Cinematographer
* I hope to get into the study abroad at the France campus in La Coste Fr
* My sister and I might be renting to own a 5 bedroom 2 bath house in Savannah (if our trip goes well this weekend, that'll be it's own blog, it's a major fixer-uper!)
* It's looking like this site may become geared more towards my photography then my plays, but I hope to be able to continue to work on both

That's about all I've got for now, I should hopefully remember to post something up here after my trip this weekend, and if I can figure out how, I could post some pix! :D Thanks for reading, if you are...

A Challenge

My teacher this morning in class said that everything is a melodrama unless it is a comedy, no exceptions. I would now like to take it upon myself to write a tragedy. Being as I am a naturally humerous person, this should prove difficult, but I am competitive by nature, and will relish this opportunity. That is all.

New News

So, I totally fail at blogging.
With that said, I'm not putting in an update for what's been going on.
* I graduate in December, so I have major senioritis right now
* I have decided to study photography at SCAD in Savannah GA after graduating.
* I still plan to write my plays, and hopefully have them published or performed while in school for photography, I just want to have experience and knowledge in both areas since I love them both, and would like them both to be a major part of my life. (I may even start a blog for my pix!)
* I am in the process of finishing a few of the plays I've started already, and will therefore be needing lots of feed back. (I will still be applying to grad school for playwriting incase this photography/art school thing doesn't pan out...)
* I have a midterm to study for now that's in 3 hours, so this is all for now, hopefuly I'll be back on later and have some more stuff to put up!
